1978 Newspaper Article About the Elimination of the Telegraph Line

The following article describing the elimination of the telegraph line to the Keokuk Union Depot appeared in the Keokuk Daily Gate City on January 19, 1978, along with a captioned photo. The available copies of both items had deteriorated with age, so they have been recreated for presentation here. In the article a few spelling errors have been corrected and some missing lines (in brackets) conjecturally restored. In particular, Mr. Courtney's first name is spelled as he spelled it. Mr. Courtney passed away in 2019.
